The sound of the door caught Mikhail’s attention. He wandered inside and down the hall before he saw her. Just like every time his breath caught and his heart pounded. The knowledge that she was his filled him with such possessiveness, contentment and joy. Shay didn’t realize he was there. She placed her things on the entryway table then sighed. The tiredness in the sound made him want to do something to make it all better. He knew she loved her business and what she did but she been working long hours.
“Shay.” He said softly so not to frighten her.
The happiness and contentment on her face made her so beautiful. It was why he knew she hadn’t known he was there —the look in her eyes and on her face. It was one he would never take for granted.
“Mikhail.” She said in that tone that always got to him.
He resisted the urge to adjust himself. “Come with me.”
“Always.” She said with such certainty and promise.
He held out his hand and she came to him sliding her hand over his. Mikhail kissed her gently. The soft sigh that escaped her into his mouth filled his soul. He led her back the way he had come. When they were outside he watched her as he waited. Shay took in the area then looked at him quizzically.
“Although we’ve been together a while I enjoy our dates. “Mikhail smiled. “And I figured with how busy you’ve been we can have a date tonight. This is our continued endless dates.“
“Someone is getting lucky tonight.” Shay sang teasingly.
“Someone’s being sassy tonight.” Mikhail sang back and laughed.
“Of course. It’s my usual default.” Shay leaned against him. “You’re so good to me.”
“I’m the one who’s honored to be chosen by you.“ Mikhail smoothed his finger along her cheek.
“Someone’s being sentimental tonight.” Shay sang then winked. “I love you. I love our endless dates.”
