Today’s Snippet features characters from God Style Temptation, Olympus Unleashed, Book #2. Enjoy!
From time to time there’s multi-part Snippet’s that go together. I think of it as a Snippet Serial and I name them. The below Snippet Serial Breaking Rules features the books at the time I wrote these Snippet’s that were available in my Olympus Unleashed series. Eventually when books are released in the Olympus Unleashed series an Snippet might be written and if it is it will be added to the Breaking Rules Snippet Serial. So this Snippet Serial is a continuous one (at my discretion/time permits).

Nigel relaxed in the back garden. He looked out at the lush area enjoying the slight breeze. Hearing a sound he turned his head towards the patio doors. Anticipation filled him. When she stopped in the doorway his pulse increased and breath caught. No matter how long they’d been together he wouldn’t get used to that initial shaft of pleasure that filled him knowing she was with him and his.
“Hey. I knew I’d find you here.” Aurora met his gaze and winked. She strolled towards him.
“I knew you’d come find me here.” Nigel lifted his head as she came to him and kissed him gently on the lips.
“It was a busy hectic day.” Aurora sat in the chair next to his at the table. “I know I say that every day about Savoy Valley Hospital. But some days when I think it can’t get busier it does.”
“It’s a good thing you love what you do as a surgeon.” Nigel poured her drink from the pitcher on the table.
“I do. Especially days like this when the sun is bright and things went so right.” Aurora smiled her thanks and took a sip.
Nigel watched her then said. “Although you love your job you don’t usually rhapsodizes about it. Something makes me think you’re up to no good.”
“You know me so well.” Aurora cackled.
“Oh boy. What did you do?” Nigel sipped his own drink.
Aurora’s eyes were lit with mischief while that unholy grin didn’t bode well for someone. Unable to resist he leaned forward and cupped her cheek. She leaned into his hand taking a soft breath before kissing his palm. Nigel kissed her lips. Aurora made that sound that made him crazy. She leaned back and stared into his eyes.
“Although I have him to thank for us I’m still going to get my payback.” Aurora cackled again loud and long.
Nigel leaned back into his chair knowing immediately what she was referring to. He chuckled as he lifted his glass again and took a drink. Nigel watched her as she texted on her phone. As she did she was laughing and muttering to herself.
“So you figured out how to get your payback on Claude.” Nigel shook his head. “You know he still thinks you should be thanking him and not wanting to get payback. He was trying to show his gratitude.”
“But gratitude is fine but when it becomes too much is when it becomes a problem.” Aurora rolled her eyes. “Cupid didn’t get that and now I’m going to make him pay.”
Nigel knew she deliberately called him Cupid instead of his real name, Claude, knowing that Claude hated it.
“The two of you have a weird weird friendship. It’s a lot of strange want revenge on you but I kinda like you sometimes.” Nigel snickered. “I think Claude likes matching wits with you and your friends. Although the other Gods, Goddesses and other beings can do the same I think it’s the challenge of your humanity that makes him enjoy it so much.”
“Yeah I know. He says it’s our humanity and the deviousness of the human mind that he finds enthralling.” Aurora made a deep sound in her throat. “I’m so going to make sure he’s so enthralled.” She laughed again.
“The way you say that makes me almost feel sorry for him. But knowing my old friend he’s going to think you can’t do anything to get payback at him.” Nigel patted her hand. “But I know my woman and he’s so not going to see it coming.”
“Exactly.” Aurora studied him. “I love hearing you say my woman. I also know my man will be enjoying the payback.”
“I love hearing you say my man.” Nigel pulled her close. “So are you going to share what’s this plan to get payback?”
“Nah… It’ll give you plausible deniability because Cupid will come and ask. What I’m planning will have him wondering is it Cupid’s payback or something else. It’s going to be a multi-level, over time, and very entertaining. I’m going to have him guessing.” Aurora looked very pleased with herself.
“Ahhh… so you’re going to draw it out like he did with his gratitude for you.” Nigel nodded. “That’s devious. Very smart and he wouldn’t expect that. He’d be more looking for something straight on at once.”
“I know. Seeing as he likes to casually not so casual mention my wanting payback an I don’t show gratitude. When I should instead be thanking him for bringing us together.” Aurora rolled her eyes. “You know he keeps taking credit for me and you being together.”
“I know he does it to get to you.” Nigel thought of it a minute. “I think in some weird way he’s looking forward to the payback.”
“He’s going to get it. Just not how he expects that.” Aurora put her head on his shoulder. “It’s going to take time and there’s so many moving pieces. But in the end it’s going to be beautiful, talked about, and brilliant Cupid’s payback. It’s going to be in kind like he did for me.”
“Although I know you’re doing this because of the principle of it. I’ll never tell him that but I’m glad what he did sort of bring us together.” Nigel kissed the top of her head. “If he wasn’t trying to show his gratitude we might not have ever met.”
“True. In a way what he did fulfills whatever gratitude he had for me. It’s Cupid’s payback.” she gazed into his eyes. “And I will be grateful to him forever for bringing me you.”
