Crenshaw Reading Thursday – In Death Series A Love Affair

Thursday, February 7th, 2008

This week I’ve been rereading JD Robb’s In Death series. I’m preparing for the next book in the series Strangers in Death which releases Feb 19, 2008.

I love me some Roarke and Eve.

I also heart Peabody, Feeney, and McNab. Mavis has a special place in my heart. Leonardo is a cutie. Trina well I’m with Eve on this she is a little scary but I like her anyway. Tibble… boy the list of charterers can go on and on. Let’s just say that I love the whole In Death series.

Now back to reading.

Crenshaw Reading Thursday – Series Rundown

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

This week I’ve been exploring series. I’ve found myself reading some series I love and lost track off. This last year I didn’t get a chance to read as much as I would have liked. I’ve been reading some of my favorites.

A quick rundown on my favorites.

Brenda Jackson’s Madaris Family Series. I love the family, the passion and their closeness.

Francis Rays’ The Grayson’s of New Mexico and Taggart/Falcon Series. This is a dynamic family with so much passion, closeness and brings you in.

McKenna Jeffries’ Sultry Nights series which feature the Hamlin Family and their friends. The Hamlin and their friends are another dynamic and close knit family. The stories are passionate, heartbreakingly poignant and make me want more. Conquering Jazz, the first book isn’t released yet but I’ve read a sneak peek of it and some of the others in the series. I enjoyed them. I’m afraid to say too much. All I can say is go out and get the story when it comes out. I can’t wait for the release. It will be coming from Liquid Silver Books sometime in the next few months.

Layne Blacque’s upcoming series. I can’t say much about this one because she hasn’t officially announced it yet but I can say if the first book is any indication it is a great series. I can’t wait until I can say more. So a not so subtle hint to Layne. Make the damn announcement already so I can talk about it. Jeesh it’s hard to keep quite about this one.

Seressia Glass’ Hughes Family Series and No Commitment Required. Although the Hughes may not be considered a series by some I see it as such. These novels were emotional, passionate and real. No Commitment Required is still one of my all time favorite books.

Pamela Leigh Starr’s Love Found Series. From the first book Fate which featured Scott Halloway and Vanessa Lewis to the last in this four book series I was caught in the lives of the Lewis family. They face unexpected love, bigotry and most of all forgiveness. When the series was done I was sad but at least I can revisit the Lewis’ when I reread the series.

There are so many more series I enjoy. Series across all genres’. The above are only a few of the contemporary series I enjoy reading. I’ll be exploring more of the series in a variety of genres that I enjoy in some of my future blog posts.

Now back to what I was getting at. What is most prevalent of all the series above? Family. No matter if by blood or not. They all explore families and the love and support they all give you. Each of the series above is passionate, emotion filled and most of all show the power of all types of families. You get to follow the characters and see them in other books. I don’t know about you but I sometimes wonder what happens to characters after I close the book. With the series I read I get to know and see them again. Ahh.. series this is why I love them.

So read any good series lately? I’m always looking for things to read.

Teasers….

Ahh… day job crazy and ill. Added some lemon to my tea.My tea bag had another saying that I found so true. It said:

Gossip is something negative that is developed and then enlarged.

For my TBR book for this week’s TBR Book Challenge I read For A Few Demons More by Kim Harrison. I have a confession I am a huge Kim Harrison fan. Her books are on my Read as Bought List but I’ve been so busy I got this book and forgot I had it. LOL. That’s what happens when your TBR pile should have it’s own zip code. For A Few Demons More was sexy, hot, intense and man I was sad at the end. Sigh. But I still loved it.

If you haven’t read the The Hollows stories you need to go get them all and read them. They’re are hot, sexy, intense and action filled. Each book in the series is getting better.I will tell you about another of my TBR Book next Sunday. I have told you my TBR Book so come on and let me know about yours.

For my TBR book for this week’s TBR Book Challenge I read The Company You Keep and Tangled Roots by Angela Henry. This is an amateur sleuth type mystery that features a character named Kendra Clayton. It was great, funny and kept me guessing. I bought these a while ago but never got around to reading them.

I am now an Angela Henry fan. I checked and saw Diva’s Last Curtain –the next Kendra Clayton novel – was released a few month’s ago. I plan to go and pick it up.

I will tell you about another of my TBR Book next Sunday. I have told you my TBR Book so come on and let me know about yours.

For my TBR book for this week’s TBR Book Challenge I read The Wicked and The Forsaken by L.A. Banks. I have a confession I am a huge L.A. Banks fan and at first her books were on my Read as Bought List but I had to move them. I hide them until there are at least two I have not read. Why because I got frustrated waiting for the next one to come out. Yeah, yeah there isn’t that much time between books but I want the next book as soon as I finish the one I am reading. This time was no diffrent I wanted the next book after The Cursed. Sigh. The Darkness doesn’t come out until next year. {Grumble} I want it now. {Soft swear} Crap I have to wait for it.If you haven’t read the Vampire Huntress Legend stories you need to go get them all and read them. They are hot, sexy, and action filled. Be warned they are addictive. Each book in the series is getting better.

I will tell you about another of my TBR Book next Sunday.I have told you my TBR Book so come on and let me know about yours.

For my TBR book for this week’s TBR Book Challenge I read If She Only Knew by Lisa Jackson. The story was interesting with lots of suspense and great characters. It was a good read. I checked my shelf for more of Lisa Jackson and saw I had a few more of her books. I can’t wait to read more of her books.

The TBR Book Challenge is making me rediscover a lot of books I bought and finally get to read them. I will tell you about another of my TBR Book next Sunday.I have told you my TBR Book so come on and let me know about yours. What was your TBR Book and what are your thoughts on it?

Sunday, July 15th, 2007

For my TBR book for this week’s TBR Book Challenge I went with an author who I read an excerpt for on some site and liked it. I went out and bought the book but just added it to my TBR books. For my TBR Book I read Hell’s Belles by Jackie Kessler. I picked up this book a few month’s ago and only am just getting around to reading it. I’m sorry I didn’t read it when I got it. It was funny and steamy. I’ve got a new author for my RAB – Read as Bought - list. My only disappointment is The Road to Hell the next book in this series is not avaliable now. Hmmm is it November yet. LOL. I’ll have to wait darn it.

The TBR Book Challenge is making me read more and add more books for me to go and get to read. I will tell you about another of my TBR Book next Sunday.

I have told you my TBR Book so come on and let me know about yours. What was your TBR Book and what are your thoughts on it?
